The Story in Pictures

And Then She Was Here.

Dear Baby,

I spent a lot of time trying to anticipate what your labor and birth would be like. I thought it might be interesting to have my water break as it never had before and it would be a new experience.

Wish granted. Monday morning, (you were due Friday), I woke up to a small pop and raced to the bathroom. Just enough to wonder if I had pulled a Kariah and peed my pants. Two more times of this and I figured, maybe not.

So when Kariah woke up, I brought her into Daddy and convinced her to tell him my water had broken. He leaped out of bed, looking around wide eyed and screaming "You haven't packed a bag yet!" It was the funniest part of this entire pregnancy and well worth the long(ish) labor it brought on.

I spent the next two hours doing laundry, cleaning, taking a shower, packing a bag, calling a babysitter. We finally left and got to the hospital about 10:30. They confirmed the whole water breaking theory and the whole show got started.

You made your entrance at 9:03 that night, weighing in at 7 lbs 15.6 ounces, after pooping on the doctor and the nurse. So we call you 8 lbs even, my smallest baby.

So it's 5 days later, and I'm just starting to come out of the haze. I'm sure I'll intermittently slip back in but I wanted to take this quiet moment to welcome you to our family. Words cannot express how happy I am to finally have you here. Let the adventure begin.
