Sunday Princess
Dear Ri,
Every Sunday, you beg and beg for the same dress. And every Sunday, Daddy gives in. I wonder if the Nursery Leaders think we can’t afford any other dress??
Last Sunday, Daddy said “I wonder if Kariah will want to remember this dress?” So we got you to stand still for pictures with one of your treasured teddy bears. And boy did you strike a pose. It begged for some post-processing.
What a princess. You sure are loved.

Scouter
Dear Kids!
Let me explain what life has been like around here. Karalynn has her most awake time of the entire day from about 10 pm to 1 am. She coos and kicks her feet, and smiles and generally chills very happily. But she is not asleep! She fools you right around 9 pm, Dead Asleep like this:
So Mommy stays up bleary eyed trying to entertain her and survive. By 1:30, I'm usually in bed. Jonah wakes up around 6 am ("So I can have time to play before school!!") Marcus is up soon after followed by Daddy and finally Kariah. You boys have been amazing at getting your chores done, getting dressed, etc all by yourself. Daddy hangs out as long as he can and right before he has to take you to school and get himself to work, someone wakes me up, we have prayers, and off go the boys.
Karalynn wakes up around 8:30 or so, and the day begins. No time for a shower. Naptime rolls around and Mom crashes so she can stay up late again. Again, no shower. Dad has to work late because he stayed home in the morning to let Mom sleep in so by 8 pm or so, Daddy rolls in and Mommy is out of her mind (and stinky). And the whole cycle begins again.
So there has been no time to take pictures let alone blog about them. Mom and Dad have decided it's time to fix this. Well, Dad decided since he took the late shift last night since Mom was ready to out of her head. He woke up determined to "fix" Karalynn. So, we're going to start waking her up at 7 and making sure she gets lots of awake time during the day which means Mom is house-bound because she loooooves to sleep in her car seat. Which means Daddy is doing grocery shopping. Hahahahahaha.
But since I got a decent amount of sleep, I actually bathed Kariah this morning and made her cute for preschool. Pigtails, skirt, and all...
This is a new grin I haven't seen before. Makes me laugh.
Oh, and last night I took all 4 kids to Pack Meeting, all by myself. Yes, Yes, I am Supermom.
First you had a puppet play. The lady in the corner, that's Mrs. Leavitt you're old preschool teacher. She's the bomb.
You had a great system. He hit the balloon, you kept moving forward. You guys were awesome.
And at the end, Sister Leavitt asked for a volunteer for the closing prayer. None of the scouts raised their hand, but little Marcus did. He stood up in front of everyone and gave an awesome closing prayer. He's the bomb.
love,
mom

Completely gone. moved her in all sorts of directions and positions. So you lay wrap her up and lay her down. 1 hour later, she's awake, screaming her little lungs out. And then the 3 hour marathon begins...

That shirt, I sewed on all those patches. I'm the bomb.
That's Decker. He's the coolest boy in your class. You guys are doing a team balloon race.

A Story...
Dear Karalynn,
A story that begins many years ago. A Great- Grandfather, born in 1893 in Poland, emigrated to Massachusetts. In the midst of having 11 children, he also worked as a Bernina sewing machine saleman. This is a copy of an ad he had in the local newspaper.

Four generations later, his great-granddaughter converted to the Mormon Church and sometime after that was married to the great-great-great grandson of a Norweigan pioneer. That's how you got your name. "Thor's son" became "Thurston".
These two made beautiful babies. And with each baby, the great-granddaughter wished for a new sewing machine. She pined for a Bernina, the Mercedes Benz of sewing machines. With the strength of Chevy truck and the finesse of a Porsche.
One Thanksgiving, while pregnant with you, the great-grandaughter and her pioneer in-laws were in Utah. And she was sick. So so so sick. Her sweet mother-in-law tried to distract her with a Black Friday sale at the local Bernina shop. They went and while her MIL received the official demonstration, the great-grandaughter just sat in awe. And nausea. Her grandmother-in-law tried to make it better by describing her own pregnancy nausea in great detail. Shockingly, it didn't help.
The pioneer MIL bought the Mercedes, uh Bernina. The great-grandaughter knew now was not the time, but soon. They returned to Arizona and in due time, the MIL learned the intricacies of the Bernina and the great-grandaughter bore a sweet baby Karalynn.
In the celebration of new baby, a blanket was given, sewn with love and expertise. And so you were wrapped, in the love of a Pioneer and the tradition of a Pole.
